FAQ | Questions and Answers about Hemp
What is CBD?
CBD stands for cannabidiol and belongs to the group of cannabinoids. Cannabinoids are a component part of the hemp plant.
What are cannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are a group of natural active ingredients in the cannabis plant. These active ingredients can be found in the flowers, leaves and stalks. Researchers have already identified over 100 unique cannabinoids in the cannabis plant. The most well-known cannabinoid is Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
Do CBD products have an intoxicating effect?
The cannabinoid THC is responsible for the intoxicating effect of the hemp plant. In contrast CBD is not psychoactive and therefore does not have an intoxicating effect.
What are endocannabinoids?
The endocannabinoid system is a part of the nervous system and includes the cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2 which are produced by the body. They are part of the endogenous cannabinoid system, which are also found in the hemp plant (Phytocannabinoids). The cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) is found predominantly in the neurons of the cerebellum, while the cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2) is mainly found in immune system cells. When CBD is taken, the cannabinoid receptors are activated and the human endocannabinoid system is placed in a better state of health. Although there is still a great deal of research ahead of us, today there is no doubt about the positive effect of CBD.
